REM-4A43
VOLVO
REM-4A43 - Gas pressure sensor. Signal too low
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) watches the signal from the gas pressure sensor. If the signal is too low, the code is set, and the cause may be a short to ground, a break in the signal wire or a defective sensor. The fuel level is then set to zero, and both the fuel gauge and the gas level gauge can stop working.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is shorted to ground
- Break in the signal wire
- Defective gas pressure sensor
- The signal wire is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector to the gas pressure sensor is secure and free from oxidation and damage
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the gas pressure sensor is not shorted to ground and has no break
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the gas pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice4
- The fuel level gauge does not work
- The trip computer shows the tank empty too early
- The fuel gauge reads zero although there is fuel in the tank
- The gas level gauge does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel level is set to zero
