REM-6A10
VOLVO
REM-6A10 - Door switch. Signal too high
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) receives too high a signal from the door switch that should show the door is closed. This suggests the switch is shorted to supply voltage. The module checks the door status by briefly powering the switches, so the fault also affects the door alarm.
Possible causes
- The switch indicating a closed door is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Read the door status with a diagnostic tool, with the ignition on, and open and close the doors one at a time. The status should change for the door you open
- 2If the status does not change, the fault is permanent. Then only fault-trace the circuit for the door that showed the wrong status
- 3Check that the connector to the door switch is secure and free from oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire from the door switch has no contact with voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the rear electronic module (REM) and the switch
Symptoms you may notice3
- General warning lamp on
- Message shown in the text display
- The door alarm does not trigger for the door
