REM-6A11 - Door switch. Signal too high
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The REM registers too high a signal from a door switch, which normally shows that the door is closed. The cause is that the switch is shorted to supply voltage. The module reads the switches with short voltage pulses, and the fault can give a wrong door alarm and a warning lamp on the instrument panel.
Possible causes
- The switch indicating a closed door is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, read the door status and open and close the doors one at a time. The status for each door should change when it is opened and closed
- 2If the status does not change, the fault is permanent and the circuit for the door showing the fault should be checked
- 3Check the connector and wiring at the door for chafing, loose connectors and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch has no contact with the positive supply
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the switch and the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- General warning lamp on
- Message shown in the text display
- The door alarm does not trigger
