REM-6A12 - Door switch. Signal too high
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) has received too high a signal from a door switch in the rear doors, a switch that should show that the door is closed. The cause is that the switch is shorted to supply voltage. The module checks the switches by briefly powering them, and the fault can stop the door alarm from reacting.
Possible causes
- The switch indicating a closed door is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, read both rear door switch statuses with a diagnostic tool, then open and close each door in turn. Its status should change
- 2If the status does not change, the fault is permanent. Then only fault-trace the circuit for the door that showed the wrong status
- 3Check the connector and wiring at the rear door for chafing, loose connectors and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire from the switch has no contact with voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the switch and the rear electronic module (REM)
Symptoms you may notice3
- General warning lamp on
- Message shown in the text display
- The door alarm does not react for the rear door
