REM-6A13
VOLVO
REM-6A13 - Door switch. Signal too high
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
A door switch in the rear doors gives the rear electronic module (REM) a signal that is too high, even though the switch should show that the door is closed. The fault is caused by the switch being shorted to supply voltage. Because the module reads the switches with brief voltage pulses, the fault can cause a lit general warning lamp and a message in the display.
Possible causes
- The switch indicating a closed door is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, read the switch status and open and close the rear doors one at a time. The status for each door should change when it is opened and closed
- 2If the status does not change, the fault is permanent, and only the circuit for the door showing the fault needs checking
- 3Check the wiring and connector at the rear door for chafing, pinching and loose contacts
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch has no contact with voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the switch and the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- General warning lamp on
- Message shown in the text display
- The door alarm does not react for the rear door
