Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) registers too high a signal from the switch in the tailgate lock unit, a switch that should show that the tailgate is closed. The switch is shorted to supply voltage, so the module does not read the tailgate position correctly.
Possible causes
- The switch indicating a closed tailgate is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Read the tailgate switch status with the ignition on and open and close the tailgate. The status should change when it is opened and closed
- 2If the status does not change, the fault is permanent
- 3Check the connector and wiring at the tailgate lock unit for chafing, loose contacts and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch has no contact with voltage
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the switch and the rear electronic module (REM)
Symptoms you may notice3
- General warning lamp on
- Message shown in the text display
- The alarm does not react to the tailgate
