Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic and may not be present right now. The rear electronic module (REM) has registered too high a signal on the supply wire to the level sensor while the alarm is switched off. The supply should be off at that time, so the fault comes from the supply wire being shorted to supply voltage.
Possible causes
- The power supply wire to the level sensor is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Inspect the wiring to the level sensor for chafing, loose connectors and damage, especially where the cable moves
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the level sensor has no contact with voltage
- 3If the fault remains or comes back, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The alarm is not triggered by the level sensor
