What does this fault code mean?
The module (REM) monitors the siren (BBS) through check messages. The fault is stored if the siren does not answer the communication or answers with incorrect information, and the result can then be a false alarm.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire to the siren
- Faulty connectors in the rear electronic module (REM), the central electronic module (CEM) or the siren
- Leaking battery acid in the siren, which causes interference on the LIN network
- Internal fault in the siren
What you can do
- 1Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the siren has no break and is not shorted to ground or to supply voltage
- 2Look at the siren for signs of leaking battery acid, and check that the connectors are secure
- 3Clear the fault code, close all doors, activate the alarm and read whether the fault code comes back
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the siren
