What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic and may not be present right now. The rear electronic module (REM) has registered too low a signal from the tailgate handle for longer than normal. This can be caused by the handle push button sticking in the activated position or by the signal wire being shorted to ground, and the tailgate then does not lock or open.
Possible causes
- The push button in the handle has stuck in the activated position
- The signal wire is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the push button in the handle has not stuck in the pressed-in position
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the handle is not shorted to ground
- 3Check the connector and wiring at the handle for chafing, loose contacts and damage
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment look at the handle and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The tailgate does not lock or open
