What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic and may not be present right now. The rear electronic module (REM) has registered too high a signal across the relay coil when the unlocking relay for the tailgate central locking is activated. This is because the relay coil is shorted to supply voltage, and the tailgate then can be neither locked nor unlocked.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the relay coil
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and try locking and unlocking the tailgate with the key fob to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the relay coil has no contact with supply voltage
- 3Replace the unlocking relay with a new one and check that the tailgate locks and unlocks
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment continue the fault-finding
Symptoms you may notice1
- The tailgate cannot be locked or unlocked
