What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic and may not be present right now. The rear electronic module (REM) has registered too low a signal across the relay coil for the tailgate locking relay when it is activated. The relay may be missing or loose, or the coil may have a break or be shorted to ground, and the tailgate then does not lock.
Possible causes
- The relay is not fitted
- Open circuit in the relay coil
- The relay coil is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the tailgate central-locking relay is fitted and firmly in place
- 2Check the relay contacts in the socket for oxidation and loose connections
- 3Use a multimeter to check whether the wire to the relay coil has a break or contact with ground
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the relay and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The tailgate does not lock or unlock
