Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic and may not be present right now. The rear electronic module (REM) has registered too high a signal on the ground circuit of the relay coil when the fuel filler flap unlocks. The fault lies in the relay or in the control module, so the flap may not unlock correctly.
Possible causes
- Faulty relay, with a short circuit in the relay coil
- Defective control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and try unlocking the fuel filler flap to see whether it returns
- 2Inspect the wiring to the unlocking relay for chafing and loose connectors
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the relay has no contact with voltage
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment investigate the control module (REM) and the relay
Symptoms you may notice1
- The fuel filler flap does not lock or open
