What you can do
- 1Read and clear the fault code, then check whether it returns when you switch the lighting on
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable to the number plate lighting is not shorted to ground
- 3Check that the number plate lamps work and that their connectors are secure
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring and the REM
Symptoms you may notice1
- The number plate lighting does not work
What the fault can affect1
- On cars built from late September 2005, the output is switched off permanently if the fault has been present over many ignition cycles, until the fault code is cleared
