What does this fault code mean?
The module (REM) keeps watch on what it sends to the LED stop lamps. The fault code is stored if it registers too high a signal or a break in that wiring, and the stop lamp then either stays off or stays on all the time.
Possible causes
- Break in the wiring to the stop lamps
- Wiring to the stop lamps has a short to supply voltage
- Defective stop lamp
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the rear electronic module and at the tail lamps for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness, and look carefully for damage
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the stop lamp has neither a break nor contact with supply voltage
- 3If no fault is found, try a new stop lamp
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment investigate the wiring and the control module
Symptoms you may notice2
- The stop lamps do not light when the brake pedal is pressed
- The stop lamp stays lit all the time
