REM-8F10
VOLVO
REM-8F10 - Position sensor xenon lamp. Signal too high
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The module (REM) reads the xenon lamp position sensor. The fault code is set if the value it receives is too high, which comes from the signal cable being shorted to supply voltage, from the position sensor being fitted incorrectly, or from a faulty sensor. The road illumination and the automatic headlamp range control then stop working.
Possible causes
- Signal cable shorted to supply voltage
- The xenon lamp position sensor is fitted incorrectly
- Faulty position sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the xenon lamp position sensor is correctly fitted
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal cable to the position sensor has no contact with supply voltage
- 3Check that the position sensor's supply and ground connections are secure and free from oxidation
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the position sensor and the REM
Symptoms you may notice2
- The road surface is not illuminated
- The automatic headlamp range control does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The shortest headlamp range is used
