Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance system does not work. The REM and PAM are not communicating properly over the LIN network, and the code is set when the REM registers serious interference. The fault can be caused by wiring, connectors or a defective communication part in one of the control modules.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit between the signal cables
- Open circuit in one of the signal cables
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the network
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the fuse for the rear electronic module (REM) is intact
- 3With a multimeter, check that the signal cable between the REM and the PAM has no open circuit and no contact with ground
- 4With the ignition off, check the connector at the REM: is it fully seated and free from oxidation?
- 5If the cable is intact, the fault may be in the PAM or the REM; try replacing the PAM, or have a workshop determine which control module is defective
