REM-E010
VOLVO
REM-E010 - Power supply control module. Signal too low
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The REM checks its own power supply against the voltage reported for the CEM on the CAN network. The code is set when the REM's supply sits too low compared with that.
Possible causes
- Partly burnt fuse for the REM
- Damaged power supply cable to the REM
- Loose ground connection to the REM
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1With diagnostic equipment and the engine running, compare the supply voltage to the REM with that to the CEM; they should be roughly equal
- 2Check that the connectors at the REM are fully seated and free from oxidation
- 3Check the fuse for the REM and see whether it is partly burnt or burnt
- 4Check that the screw connection from the battery to the REM is tight and free from oxidation
- 5Check the ground connection to the REM; it should be tight and free from oxidation. Remedy the fault, clear the code and road test the car with the engine running
Symptoms you may notice5
- Central locking does not work at all
- The fuel gauge shows zero although there is fuel
- Rear window heating does not work
- The tail lamps do not work
- The folding headrest does not work
