Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The sensor's control module cannot decide whether signals R1 to R4 have an active fault, so a test routine has to be run. The fault may lie in the sensor or in its control module, and stability control is disconnected while it is active.
Possible causes
- Fault within the sensor itself
- Fault within the sensor control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With diagnostic equipment, run the test routine for the signals after turning the wheel to each end stop twice
- 3If the test shows the fault is active, check the connectors at the sensor and the control module for oxide and poor contact
- 4Look for short circuits between the signal wires and for breaks in the wiring, and check that the wiring is not chafed
- 5Stability control is off while the fault is present, so have a workshop repair it promptly
Symptoms you may notice3
- Anti-spin warning lamp is on
- Stabilising function absent
- Anti-spin does not work
What the fault can affect2
- Stability function disconnected
- Anti-spin function blocked
