What does this fault code mean?
Steering wheel angle signal B is missing, and the fault is permanent: it is present now. The cause may be oxide or contact resistance at a connector in the sensor control module or steering wheel module, a break in the signal wires, or an internal fault in the control module.
Possible causes
- Oxide or contact resistance at a connector in the sensor control module or steering wheel module
- Break in the signal wires
- Internal fault in the sensor control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns straight away
- 2With diagnostic equipment, read signal B in live data and turn the wheel to both end stops; the status should switch between ON and OFF
- 3Check the connectors at the sensor control module and the steering wheel module for oxide and contact resistance
- 4If the connectors are sound and the wiring is intact, a workshop may need to replace the steering wheel angle sensor
- 5Stability control is off while the fault is present, so have a workshop repair it promptly
