Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelXC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The signal pattern from the angle sensor's code wheel does not match, due to an internal fault in the sensor. The stability function is blocked while the fault is present. On cars built before early October 2010 the sensor software may need updating.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the angle sensor
What you can do
- 1On cars built before early October 2010, a workshop should update the sensor software
- 2Drive at higher speed with full steering lock both ways; if no anti-spin lamp and no warning message appears in the instrument display, the contact reel should be replaced
- 3With diagnostic equipment, follow the counters for the fault status: many incorrect driving cycles point to a recurring fault, few to a temporary one
- 4If the fault returns after the contact reel is replaced, have a workshop replace the steering wheel module (SWM)
- 5The stability function stays blocked while the fault is present, so have a workshop repair it promptly
