What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor (SAS) has registered that its calibration data in the EEPROM memory has been erased. Until the steering wheel is turned a short distance either way, the sensor reports to the brake control module (BCM) that it is not initiated, so the angle is unknown. The fault is an internal fault in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Internal malfunction within the steering angle sensor (SAS).
What you can do
- 1Turn the steering wheel a short distance in either direction so the sensor recalibrates. The code may then disappear.
- 2If the code is still stored, clear it and test drive the car. With a diagnostic tool, check that the fault does not return.
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the steering angle sensor (SAS).
- 4The sensor affects the stability function. Have a workshop do the repair rather than working on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp lights up
- The stability control system does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
