What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor measures how quickly the steering wheel is turned, and the code is set when that speed exceeds a threshold. The front wheels hitting an edge or a stone can produce such a signal, and the anti-spin and stability functions are then affected.
Possible causes
- The front wheels have hit an edge or a stone.
What you can do
- 1Think back to whether the front wheels recently hit a kerb, an edge or a stone. Check that the wheels and suspension show no visible damage.
- 2Clear the code and test drive the car to see whether it returns.
- 3If the code returns on the next drive, have a workshop check the steering angle sensor (SAS).
- 4The angle sensor affects the anti-spin and stability functions. Have a workshop carry out the repair and do not work on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp lights up
- The stability control system does not work
What the fault can affect1
- AYC cannot be used
