What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor (SAS) sends its information to the other control modules over the CAN network, and the information carries a checksum. The code means the checksum does not match, which is caused by an internal fault in the steering angle sensor.
Possible causes
- Internal malfunction within the steering angle sensor (SAS).
What you can do
- 1Switch off the ignition, wait a while and start the engine. Check whether the code is still stored, clear it and test drive the car.
- 2If the fault is permanent, have a workshop replace the steering angle sensor (SAS).
- 3Check that the battery is charged and that the fuses are intact, since voltage problems can cause faults in communication between the control modules.
- 4The steering angle sensor is connected to the stability system. Have a workshop diagnose and replace it rather than working on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp lights up
- The stability control system does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
