What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor may be installed incorrectly, and the contact reel must sit correctly. If it is mounted a full turn wrong, extreme steering lock can damage internal parts. The code is set when a fault is registered on the contact reel in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Incorrectly installed steering angle sensor.
- Internal fault in the steering angle sensor (SAS).
What you can do
- 1Check whether the steering wheel is straight when the wheels point straight ahead. If not, the contact reel may be misadjusted.
- 2Have a workshop check the contact reel and angle sensor fitting and adjustment, and replace the contact reel if it may be damaged.
- 3With the ignition on, turn the steering wheel fully to each limit and check whether the code is still stored.
- 4If the fault remains after the contact reel check, have a workshop replace the steering angle sensor.
- 5The angle sensor affects anti-spin and stability. Leave these checks and repairs to a workshop rather than working on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp lights up
- The stability control system does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
