What does this fault code mean?

The two processors in the steering angle sensor communicate with each other and continually check that the information between them matches. The code is set when the control module detects a communication fault between the processors. The fault lies in the steering angle sensor itself.

    Possible causes

    • Internal malfunction within the steering angle sensor (SAS).

    What you can do

    1. 1Clear the code and drive normally for a while. Check whether it returns.
    2. 2With a diagnostic tool, read the drive-cycle counter. Many incorrect drive cycles point to a recurring fault.
    3. 3If the code returns, have a workshop replace the steering wheel module (SWM).
    4. 4The angle sensor is linked to the anti-spin and stability systems. Have a workshop diagnose and repair it rather than working on the wheel yourself.

    Symptoms you may notice5

    • A text message and yellow warning symbol show in the display
    • The anti-spin and anti-skid warning lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
    • The anti-spin function does not work
    • The stability function does not work
    • The active chassis does not work

    What the fault can affect1

    • The sensor warns the other control modules that the data it sends is wrong

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
