Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor (SAS) receives information from the central electronic module (CEM) telling it whether to communicate on the CAN network. The code is set when that information is missing or incorrect for too long. Fault tracing therefore continues in the CEM.
Possible causes
- Data sent by the central electronic module (CEM) does not arrive or is wrong.
- The cause of the fault is in the central electronic module (CEM).
What you can do
- 1With a diagnostic tool, read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM), since fault tracing continues there.
- 2Have a workshop fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM), since the cause lies there.
- 3The angle sensor is part of the stability system. Have a workshop do the fault tracing rather than working on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice5
- A yellow warning symbol and text message show in the display
- The anti-spin and anti-skid warning lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
- The anti-spin function does not work
- The stability function does not work
- The active chassis does not work
What the fault can affect1
- No steering angle value is sent out on the CAN network
