What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor (SAS) sits inside the steering wheel module (SWM) and takes its power from it. The code means the voltage is too low. The sensor checks its voltage against that of the central electronic module (CEM), and the cause can be poor contact or oxidised connectors in the steering wheel module, or an internal fault in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidised connectors in the steering wheel module (SWM).
- Internal fault in the steering angle sensor (SAS).
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the steering wheel module are intact in the car's fuse box.
- 2Clear the code and test drive the car to see whether it returns.
- 3Have a workshop check the connectors on the steering wheel module for contact resistance and oxidation, and repair as needed.
- 4Have a workshop measure the sensor's voltage and compare it with the central electronic module (CEM).
- 5The steering wheel module and sensor affect steering and stability. Have a workshop carry out diagnosis and repair.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The anti-spin warning lamp lights up
- The general warning lamp lights up
- The stability function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The stability function is blocked
