What does this fault code mean?
This code means the steering angle sensor has lost its link to the central electronic module (CEM). It is set when communication between them has been interrupted. The cause may be a break in the CAN wiring between the modules, or a malfunction inside the CEM.
Possible causes
- Break in the CAN wiring between the steering angle sensor and the central electronic module (CEM).
- Malfunction inside the central electronic module (CEM).
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the CEM are intact. Their location is shown in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the CEM first and note which other control modules show communication faults.
- 3Clear the code and test drive the car to see whether it returns.
- 4Have a workshop check the CAN wiring for short circuits and open circuits, and reprogram the angle sensor with the latest software if the other checks show nothing.
- 5The angle sensor is part of the steering and stability system. Have a workshop carry out the fault tracing rather than working on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice5

- The anti-spin and anti-skid warning lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
