What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor registers an incorrect internal reference voltage for its A/D converter. The code is set when this happens, and the fault is caused by an internal fault in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Internal malfunction within the steering angle sensor (SAS).
What you can do
- 1With the engine running, turn the wheel fully right and then fully left, and see whether the code is still stored.
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the counters. A high number of incorrect drive cycles compared with correct ones points to a recurring fault.
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the contact reel or angle sensor. If the code comes back after that, the steering wheel module (SWM) must be replaced.
- 4The angle sensor is part of the steering and stability system. Have a workshop carry out the repair rather than working on the wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice5
- The information lamp lights up
- The anti-spin warning lamp lights up
- Traction control does not work
- The stability function does not work
- The Four-C function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The sensor warns the other control modules that the data it sends is wrong
