What does this fault code mean?
The steering angle sensor reads a code wheel with optical sensors, and the signals read should form a specific pattern. The code is set when the pattern does not match, which is caused by a damaged steering angle sensor.
Possible causes
- Damaged steering angle sensor.
What you can do
- 1With the engine running, turn the wheel fully right and then fully left, and see whether the code is still stored.
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the counters for the code and check how often the fault occurs.
- 3Have a workshop replace the contact reel or angle sensor if the code returns, and the steering wheel module if it continues.
- 4The angle sensor is part of the steering and stability system. Have a workshop carry out the repair rather than working on the wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice5
- The information lamp lights up
- The anti-spin warning lamp lights up
- Traction control does not work
- The stability function does not work
- The Four-C function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The sensor warns the other control modules that the data it sends is wrong
