SAS-U300064 - Control Module. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal plausibility failure
System
Steering Angle Sensor (SAS)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (4)
What does this fault code mean?
The optical reading of the steering wheel should form a specific pattern. The code is set when the signal pattern read does not match, and the fault lies in the steering angle sensor itself.
Possible causes
- Internal malfunction within the steering angle sensor (SAS).
What you can do
- 1With the engine running, turn the wheel fully right and then fully left, and set it straight ahead. Check whether the code is still stored.
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the counters for the code and check how often the fault occurs.
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the contact reel or angle sensor. If the code comes back after that, the steering wheel module (SWM) must be replaced.
- 4The angle sensor is part of the stability system. Have a workshop carry out the repair rather than working on the steering wheel yourself.
Symptoms you may notice5
- The information lamp lights up
- The anti-spin warning lamp lights up
- Traction control does not work
- The stability function does not work
- The Four-C function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The sensor warns the other control modules that the data it sends is wrong
