What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the sensor registers that the steering wheel has been turned too far from centre, too quickly, or beyond the physical stops in the steering column. The fault may be a misadjusted, incorrectly fitted or damaged angle sensor.
Possible causes
- The steering angle sensor is misadjusted.
- The steering angle sensor is fitted incorrectly.
- The steering angle sensor is damaged.
What you can do
- 1Check that the steering wheel is straight when the wheels point straight ahead. If it is not, the contact reel may be misadjusted.
- 2Consider whether the car recently ran into a kerb or similar, since that can make the steering wheel turn suddenly.
- 3Have a workshop check that the contact reel is correctly fitted and adjusted and that the front wheel alignment has not changed. Replace the contact reel if it may be damaged.
- 4Clear the code and check whether it returns after a test drive.
Symptoms you may notice5
- The information lamp lights up
- The anti-spin warning lamp lights up
- Traction control does not work
- The stability function does not work
- The Four-C function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The sensor warns the other control modules that the data it sends is wrong
