What does this fault code mean?
The left or right side control module communicates with the central electronic module (CEM) all the time. The code is set when that communication is interrupted or stops. Fault tracing starts in the CEM, since that module monitors the voltage on the CAN wires.
Possible causes
- The fault lies in the module that sends the information.
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and check whether it is set again.
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the CEM first, since fault tracing should start there.
- 3Have a workshop measure the CAN wiring for short circuits and open circuits, since this needs measuring equipment.
- 4If a control module has been replaced without loading new software, that may be the cause. Have a workshop check this.
Symptoms you may notice3
- Blind-spot monitoring (BLIS) is not working
- Rear cross-traffic alert (CTA) is not working
- A yellow warning symbol and text message show in the display
