Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), XC60 (2009–)
What does this fault code mean?
The left side obstacle detection control module (SODL) checks its internal components and has found a fault in its program memory, where the control module's program is stored. The fault is in the control module itself, and the remedy is to replace the control module if the fault remains.
Possible causes
- Damaged left side obstacle detection control module (SODL)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car; if it appears again the control module is probably damaged
- 2Have a workshop replace the left side obstacle detection control module (SODL) if the fault remains
- 3After replacement, the SODL and SODR must each receive new software simultaneously, and calibration is required; a workshop does this
Symptoms you may notice3
- Blind spot warning (BLIS) stops working
- Cross traffic alert (CTA) does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
