Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), XC60 (2009–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault concerns the right rear outer sensor. The right side module (SODR) verifies which side of the vehicle it is mounted on, and the code is set if the left side obstacle detection control module (SODL) is fitted in the place where the SODR should be.
Possible causes
- SODL and SODR are swapped, so one sits on the other's side
- Poor contact, contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- The cable harness to the SODR is damaged
- The module was previously fitted in another car and needs resetting, a workshop job
What you can do
- 1Check that the left and right side obstacle detection control modules are on the correct sides and have not been swapped
- 2Check the connections to the SODR for loose contact, contact resistance and oxidation, and look for a damaged or chafed cable harness
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the SODR has no open circuit and no short to ground
- 4If the control module has previously been fitted in another vehicle, have a workshop reset it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Blind spot warning (BLIS) stops working
- Cross traffic alert (CTA) does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
