Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), XC60 (2009–)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module sends and receives information continuously on the vehicle's CAN network. The code is set when the control module's signal configuration file is missing or incorrect, and the control module may then have difficulty using the signals from the network.
Possible causes
- Signal configuration file missing or incorrect in the control module
- Poor contact, contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Open circuit in the CAN wires running between the module and the CEM
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the car, clear them and road test the car to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the connections to the control module for loose contact, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the CAN wires between the control module and the CEM have no open circuit; disconnect the battery negative lead before measuring
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the signal configuration in the control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Blind spot warning (BLIS) stops working
- Cross traffic alert (CTA) does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
