The SRS receives no CAN signals from the driver information module (DIM) about the status of the SRS warning lamp. The code can also be set when the ignition has been switched on without the car recognising an approved key.
Possible causes
- Fault on the CAN network, such as an open circuit or short circuit in the CAN wires
- Damaged driver information module (DIM)
What you can do
- 1If the fault came up when the ignition was switched on without an approved key, use an approved key and switch the ignition on again
- 2Clear the fault codes and road test the car to see whether they return
- 3Have a workshop check the CAN network for open and short circuits, and fault-trace the instrument cluster if nothing is found there
- 4Do not work on the airbag system or its wiring yourself; have a workshop do it
