What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the resistance in the ignition cable to the driver's seat belt tensioner has been too high for a longer period. The cause may be an open circuit in the cable or in the connector terminals, or an open circuit in the seat belt tensioner. The fault can be intermittent or permanent.
Possible causes
- Open circuit, or contact resistance, in the igniter lead or its plug between the SRS control module and the driver's seat belt tensioner
- Open circuit in the driver's seat belt tensioner, so that the igniter section has too high a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2If the fault is intermittent: have a workshop check the cables and connectors to the seat belt tensioner and repair whatever is faulty
- 3Have a workshop check the connectors to the seat belt tensioner and the control module for contact resistance, oxidation and loose connections
- 4If the fault remains: have a workshop check the cable between the control module and the tensioner with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the seat belt tensioner or its wiring yourself; a workshop should do all work on the airbag system
Symptoms you may notice2
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
- An SRS warning message is displayed
