What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the voltage in the ignition cable to passenger airbag stage 1 has been too low for a longer period. The fault is intermittent: it has occurred at some point but may not be present right now. The cause is a short circuit to ground, either in the cable or the connectors or in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to ground in the ignition cable or in the connectors between the passenger airbag and the SRS control module
- Short circuit to ground in the airbag
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors to the passenger airbag and the control module are fully engaged and not oxidised or damaged
- 3Have a workshop check that the cable to the passenger airbag is not chafed or pinched
- 4If the code returns: have a workshop check the cable to ground with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; the passenger airbag and its wiring are handled by a workshop
