5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the resistance in the circuit for passenger airbag stage 1 has been too high for a while. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred at some point but may not be present right now. The cause may be an open circuit in the ignition cable or the connectors, or an open circuit in the airbag.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the ignition cable or in the connectors between the airbag and the SRS control module
- Open circuit in the airbag, so that the igniter has too high a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors to the passenger airbag and the control module are fully engaged and not oxidised or damaged
- 3If the code returns: have a workshop measure the resistance in the circuit with diagnostic equipment
- 4Do not work on the airbag system yourself; all work on the airbag and its wiring is done by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
