5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the voltage in the circuit for passenger airbag stage 2 has been too high for a while. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred at some point but may not be present right now. The cause may be a short circuit to voltage in the ignition cable or the connectors, or in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to voltage supply in the ignition cable or the connectors between the airbag and the SRS control module
- Short circuit to voltage supply in the airbag
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors to the passenger airbag and the control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Have a workshop check that the cable to the passenger airbag is not chafed or pinched
- 4If the code returns: have a workshop check the cable for short circuit to voltage with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; the passenger airbag and its wiring are handled by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
