Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the capacitance in the circuit for passenger airbag stage 2 has been too high for a while. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred at some point but may not be present right now. The cause may be too high a capacitance, or a short circuit in the built-in capacitor in the connector to the ignition cable.
Possible causes
- Capacitance too high in the circuit
- Short circuit in the built-in capacitor in the connector to the ignition cable
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors to the passenger airbag and the control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Have a workshop check that the connector to the ignition cable is fully engaged and not damaged or corroded
- 4If the code returns: have a workshop check the built-in capacitor in the connector with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; all work on the connectors, capacitor and wiring is done by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
