What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the resistance in the circuit for passenger airbag stage 2 has been too low for a while. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred at some point but may not be present right now. The cause may be a short circuit in the ignition cable or the connectors between the airbag and the control module, or a short circuit in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the ignition cable or the connectors between the airbag and the SRS control module
- Short circuit in the airbag, so that the igniter has too low a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors to the passenger airbag and the control module are fully engaged and not oxidised or damaged
- 3Have a workshop check that the cable to the passenger airbag is not chafed or pinched
- 4If the code returns: have a workshop check the cable and the airbag with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; the passenger airbag and its wiring are handled by a workshop
