This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module has registered that the voltage in the circuit for the front left side airbag has been too high for a while. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred at some point but may not be present right now. The cause may be a short circuit to voltage in the ignition cable or the connectors to the side airbag, or in the side airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to voltage supply in the igniter lead or the connectors between the front left or right side airbag and the SRS control module
- Short to supply voltage inside the airbag for the front left side
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors to the side airbag and the control module are fully engaged and not oxidised or damaged
- 3Have a workshop check that the cable to the side airbag is not chafed or pinched
- 4If the code returns: have a workshop check the cable for short circuit to voltage with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; the side airbag and its wiring are handled by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
