Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes. The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) sets the code when the resistance in the circuit to the front left side airbag is too low for a longer period. The fault is a short-circuit in the igniter wire, in the connectors or in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit in the igniter cable or the connectors linking the front left side airbag to the SRS module
- Short-circuit in the front left side airbag, giving too low resistance in the igniter
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors at the front left side airbag and at the SRS module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Do not touch the airbag system's wiring yourself; a workshop should carry out the check and repairs
Symptoms you may notice1
- SRS warning lamp lit
