Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes. It concerns the front right side airbag, where the capacitance in the circuit is too low for a longer period. The cause lies in the built-in capacitor in the igniter connector, which has either too low capacitance or an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Capacitance too low in the built-in capacitor in the igniter connector
- Open circuit in the built-in capacitor in the igniter connector
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors to the front right side airbag and to the SRS module are secure and free of oxidation
- 3Have a workshop test the capacitor in the igniter connector with an ohmmeter
- 4Have a workshop handle both the check and any repairs, as this is airbag system work
Symptoms you may notice1
- SRS warning lamp lit
