What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) has detected that the ignition cable to the passenger's adaptive seat belt force limiter is short-circuited to the ignition cable of another restraint component. The fault is stored if the short-circuit lasts for longer than a set time. It can only occur if at least two ignition cables from different restraint systems are short-circuited to each other.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit between the passenger's force limiter ignition cable and the ignition cable of another restraint component, such as the curtain, side airbag or belt tensioner
- The fault requires at least two ignition cables from different restraint systems and/or ignition stages to be short-circuited to each other
What you can do
- 1Read out and note the fault code, clear it, and test drive to see if it returns
- 2The fault needs a short-circuit between at least two restraint systems, so read out whether other restraint systems have fault codes too
- 3The belt force limiter sits in the same unit as the belt tensioner, so they are always replaced together
- 4The restraint system should only be investigated by a workshop; do not carry out any electrical work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice2
- The general warning lamp lights
- An SRS warning message is shown
