Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
This fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes and may not be present right now. The SRS module has registered a voltage that is too high in the circuit to the seat belt tensioner for a longer period. The cause is a short-circuit to voltage in the connector, in the signal wire, or in the tensioner itself.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit to voltage supply in the connector
- Short-circuit in the signal wire between the SRS module and the driver's seat belt tensioner
- Short-circuit to voltage supply in the driver's seat belt tensioner itself
What you can do
- 1Read out and note the fault code, clear it, and test drive to see if it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connector at the tensioner and the module's connector for oxidation and contact resistance
- 3Have a workshop check the tensioner's wire for an intermittent short-circuit to voltage
- 4The restraint system belongs to the workshop; make no electrical changes yourself
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp lights
