Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
This fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes. The SRS module has for a while measured a resistance that is too high in the circuit to the front left seat belt tensioner. The cause may be contact resistance or an open-circuit in the wire, or an open-circuit in the tensioner itself.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, or an open-circuit in the wire between the tensioner and the SRS module
- An open-circuit in the tensioner itself, which makes the igniter read too high a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read out and note the fault code, clear it, and test drive to see if it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors for poor contact and oxidation
- 3The workshop checks the cable for an open-circuit and replaces the belt tensioner if needed
- 4The tensioners are part of the restraint system; do not take any measurements on them yourself
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp lights
