Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means the signal from the front right seat belt tensioner is too high. The supplemental restraint system (SRS) control module monitors the signal and sets the code when the voltage in the wiring stays too high for a while. The fault is intermittent: it comes and goes, and it may not be visible right now.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to voltage supply in the connector at the seat belt tensioner
- The signal wire running from the SRS control module to the seat belt tensioner is shorted to supply voltage
- Short circuit to voltage supply inside the seat belt tensioner
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors at the SRS control module and the seat belt tensioner for oxidation and poor contact
- 3Have a workshop look for an intermittent short to voltage in the signal wire between the control module and the seat belt tensioner, and repair what is found
- 4Do not work on the airbag system or the seat belt tensioners yourself; leave the checks to a workshop
